The prestigious title was won by Neville Gaffney of The Bulls Head, Repton, Derbyshire who now goes forward to represent the UK against bar professionals from 30 countries at the Artois World Draught Masters event in October 2007.

He beat nine other top bar professionals from across the UK at the first Artois Draught Masters competition staged in central London on September 27th 2007

The ten finalists, who were selected from participants in the L’Academie Artois training programme, each had seven minutes to demonstrate a “perfect” serve of the Artois beers at the competition bar.

They were asked to pour two glasses each of Stella Artois and Peeterman Artois on draught according to the four-step pouring ritual and pour one bottle of Artois Bock. The beer was then presented to the six-member jury who quizzed them about the taste profile of the Artois beers and correct service standards. The jury was chosen for its licensed trade experience and was headed up by Paul van de Walle, the Global Stella Artois Brew Master.

For his efforts, Neville received an engraved chalice glass trophy and £500 cash and will compete in the Artois World Draught Masters event in Leuven, Belgium, in October 2007.
